HerrinFesta Italiana

Branding and promotional design for HerrinFesta, a signature Southern Illinois event with deep local roots. What began as a block-party-style celebration of Herrin’s Italian immigrant heritage has grown into a large-scale festival featuring live music, a full carnival, and regional artisans.

Despite its small-market setting, HerrinFesta operates at the scale of a major event. The visual system reflects that ambition, balancing hometown pride with the clarity and presence required for crowds, stages, and city-wide promotion.

Strategy

In 2025, I repositioned the HerrinFesta website from a static information page to the central brand and operational hub for the festival. Rather than redesigning for simply for aesthetics, I rebuilt the site’s information architecture around user intent, clarified hierarchy to prioritize critical content, and extended the existing brand system into a flexible digital framework that could support frequent updates without eroding consistency.

The site was designed to scale year over year, allowing non-designers to manage content efficiently while preserving brand integrity. This shift transformed the website into durable infrastructure, anchoring the 2025 festival presence and eliminating the need for annual reinvention..

A tradition designed for every generation.

HerrinFesta was designed as a multi-generational experience, not a single-audience event. The strategic goal was to position the festival as a shared tradition, one that works simultaneously as a family outing, a teenage rite of passage, a casual night out for young adults, and a familiar social ritual for older residents. I approached the creative with the mindset of a local “Disney-scale” experience, designing visuals that felt energetic and inclusive without skewing juvenile or nostalgic. The result was an identity that invited different age groups to see their version of the event within the same system, reinforcing HerrinFesta as a communal anchor and a vacation-like highlight for families who return year after year.
